Lopes Mendes, Ilha Grande, Brazil
One of the most beautiful beaches in the whole Brazilian coast is on the Big Island and is called Lopes Mendes, located on the ocean shore, facing south, with approximately 3 km of white sand, very thin and firm, is taken, already many decades, as the most famous of all the Big Island. The sea of Lopes Mendes seems always busy conducive to the surf, so is the beach where this sport is the most practiced. It is a beach of little depth and water clarity is impressive, as is its variation of gray.
Lopes Mendes has been very inhabited by caiçara when the Criminal Dois Rios Colony lived its peak, but today it is an almost deserted beach with natural shade of almond trees that are on the edge.

How to get to Lopes Mendes:
- The most commonly used way is by boat ride from Abraham, the boats leave the tourists on the landing beach, which starts a light trail T11 with 1 km to cross in about 20-30 Minutes a hill and reach Lopes Mendes on the other side of the island;
- Speedboat from Araçatiba (ride);
- For those who enjoy a longer walk can walk towards the Castilians Lighthouse, T12 track and on arriving in the vicinity of the Aroeira Beach, just after the municipal school, take the right, a lovely sandy road that also leads to beach Lopes Mendes, but arriving at the Chapel, almost on the edge of the beach. This route takes between 40 and 60 minutes;
- You can also walk from Abraham the track T10, through the Great Beach of Palms and Beach of Mangroves.Total distance of 6 km.
