Hamnøy, Norway

Hamnøy is a small fishing village in the municipality of Moskenes in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on the eastern side of Moskenesøya, about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) northeast of Reine, along the Vestfjorden. Hamnøy was previously connected to Reine by ferry, but this was replaced by bridges on the European route E10 highway as part of the Lofoten Mainland Connection.[2]

Hamnøy is a tiny fishing island, a part of a group of islands to the northwestern shores of Norway. The archipelago is called Lofoten. Hamnøy, as many other small islands in this amazing archipelago, is nowadays connected via a set of bridges, since 2007 the boats that used to carry people and supplies are no longer needed. Hamnoy lays within the Arctic Circle.

I think this restaurant is now called Krambua and is run by Mikael and Noemi. We stayed at the Eliassen lodges in June and as the restaurant was very close we visited a few times. We always got a great welcome and had delicious food. The menu is limited, it depends what fish has been caught that day, but the fish stew is usually available and this has to be one of the best taste experiences ever. We also had monkfish and one day requested sole which was there for us that evening, beautifully cooked. There were never many vegetables but that didn't seem to matter. Prices were average for Norway, wine on the expensive side.
